EXP 3 Mashup article

Mashup

I don’t want ordinary people to think architects only ever propose weird, non-functional and absurd design. We shape our architecture to goals with high levels of interconnectedness. In soliciting extravagant designs, they inevitably solicit extravagant public expenditure.

We live in an era that elevates openness and connections. We want our lives to be full of experience and information. With cost-effective software and hardware, and the collaborative possibility given by the internet and social media, the creation of exquisite, evocative, often atmospheric imagery can be made that communicates the mood, the experience, the visceral feel of the design.

Daylight improves learning in school, improves productivity in workplaces, and improves psychological wellbeing nearly everywhere. Workplaces provide plentiful opportunities for meaningful interactions where daylight brings dynamism to static structure, imbuing buildings with a sense of time.

EXP 2 Textures

Textures

Textures Used

Lumion (with context)

The marker resembles a disassembled router and cars pass through its complex structure. The entries are like stadium entries where visitors would anticipate a fantastic view at the other end.

This space contains all three textures so individuals can have an enriching experience as their view of the passing cars is covered. Shades, seats and telephone are provided to assist people with 'broken down' cars nearby.

The lights and phone are solar powered, so its self-sustainable and is shown through its green lighting. However, no lighting is provided when cars drive under the marker to intentionally simulate the feeling of a machine shutting down when visitors leave the city.

You must recognise what ordinary people comprehend. You cannot go on talking away. You have to give your listeners a lever to hold onto and about things they appreciate and comprehend. Architecture is about what is rational and practical, functional and conducive. Then there is technology and aesthetics.

Architecture should have a balance of complexity so ordinary people can understand the ideas that you put forth and appreciate what is made. Being understandable and useful are the most important qualities and after that are looks and technology it has.
